Care Beyond the Ordinary

Redding and the North State are beautiful beyond belief. But the location sometimes means we can lack some of the amenities of big-city life.

That’s why Dr. Richard Mooney created Women’s Healthcare Associates of Redding in 1995, “to provide university level care to the small community of Shasta County.” The team of Dr. Mooney, Dr. Jorge Peña, both surgeons, and Physician Assistant Hanh Cline serve all patients with every type of medical insurance, so they can provide care for any patient that needs OB/GYN urogynecology service.

Dr. Mooney is the only board-certified fellowship trained urogynecologist in the North State. A University of Texas Medical School graduate, Dr. Mooney works to help women understand their conditions and teams with them to ensure the best treatment decisions.

Dr. Peña is a UC Irvine graduate who earned his medical degree from UC Davis and joined Women’s Healthcare Associates of Redding in 2003. Fluent in Spanish and English, Dr. Peña provides full-service gynecological services, including annual women’s exams and the diagnosis and treatment of conditions like endometriosis, ovarian cysts and incontinence. He follows patients from beginning to delivery during OB care.

Hahn Cline joined the team in 2012 after receiving her medical training at the Wisconsin Medical School. She’s focusing her care on general gynecologic issues and women’s healthcare examinations.

“All patients can expect to receive the highest level of care in a professional and comfortable environment with a staff that understands the importance of building long-term relationships,” the team writes. “The physicians and expert medical team encourage every patient to participate in their healthcare actively through effective, open communication.”

The practice offers a secure patient portal on their easy-to-navigate website where clients can safely access updated insurance and demographic information, a summary of chart notes, refill requests, answers to questions about surgery and access to relevant health education materials.

Additionally, the website offers ways to book appointments and contact staff with questions or concerns.

“Our patients inspire us,” Drs. Mooney and Peña and PA Cline say. “We have had so many patients that have come to us seeking care for problems that other providers have not been able to diagnose and treat. Their confidence and our ability to treat them medically helps us to keep as up-to-date in our medical field as possible. We are especially inspired by those patients who have fought to overcome cancers and other chronic medical issues.”

Often, the patients become part of a bigger community at Women’s Healthcare Associates of Redding, as is evident in their treatment rooms.

“Each exam room in our medical practice has different themed rooms and many patients have brought in special things to add to those decorations in those rooms,” the team says.

But the bottom line is care and concern for their patients’ well-being.

“We are proud to have had our business in Shasta County for over 25 years,” the team writes. “We continue to look forward to seeing patients every day, our staff are always willing and able to help and be the best that we can be to take care of our patients in the best possible way, with the best quality outcomes.”
