Hawk Mazzotta Moto Camp
From the dirt tracks of the North State to the podium at the Daytona International Speedway, Hawk Mazzotta fostered his love of motorcycles for more than three decades. Now, Mazzotta is bringing his love of riding to others through the Hawk Mazzotta Moto Camp.
Designed to teach skills and safety for several types of motorcycle riding and different disciplines of racing, the Moto Camp is in its second year at Wildheart Ranch in Cottonwood. “Motorcycle riding and racing is an empowering thing that I think so many people want to do or try, but don’t know how,” Mazzotta says. “I can make that happen.”
The Hawk Mazzotta Moto Camp is open to all ages from 3 years old and up, and all skill levels. Group camps and private lessons also are available.
The genesis of the Hawk Mazzotta Moto Camp was a late-night conversation with his fiancé, Nina, over a bottle of wine. In almost two years, Mazzotta has taught hundreds to ride, with a focus on rider safety. Newcomers go through an orientation process and instructors are on hand to guide, teach and bring out the joy of riding and racing.
The Moto Camp’s Facebook page and website – www.hawkmazzottamotocamp.com – highlight upcoming clinics and camp, and pictures show off just how much joy Mazzotta brings to his campers, young, old and in between. “I have 36 years of experience in riding and racing motorcycles and my passion is to share that with others,” he says.
Mazzotta brings real-life experience to his campers. From riding around on anything with “three or four wheels” as a kid near Whitmore to legendary tracks like Laguna Seca and Daytona, Mazzotta talks the talk because he rides the ride.
And one of his biggest joys is seeing his son do the very thing he loves as well. “He inspires me on a daily basis,” Mazzotta says, adding that he loves “changing people’s lives through motorcycle riding and racing.”
An example was taking a friend on a ride on the back of his superbike. “He was paralyzed from a racing accident and I was able to give him that incredible feeling of speed and that ‘rush’ again,” Mazzotta says.
