Joe Martino, owner of Orchard Nutrition Center, moved to the Redding area in the early 1980s. “I had some health issues,” Martino says, “and there weren’t a lot of shops in the Redding area that carried organic foods and supplement options.”

In 1982, Martino opened a “Mom and Pop” shop with just four employees. Fast-forward nearly 40 years and Orchard Nutrition Center has grown into the preeminent stop for organic, GMO-free and clean, healthy products.
Martino moved to the Locust Street location just two years later, where the business has stayed and thrived. Orchard Nutrition Center employees nearly 50 people, and their wellness department has certified nutritionists on staff that take pride in helping you.

“We are always searching for organic grocery, 100 percent certified produce, bulk foods and supplement products that meet our standards,” Martino says. “We don’t carry any food items that contain dyes, hydrogenated oils, MSG or artificial flavorings, to mention just a few things we check for. Over the last 38-plus years, we have strived to provide good nutrition and supplement education to empower every person to live their healthiest life.”

Orchard Nutrition Center also works with other local companies, carrying their products in an effort to help others thrive and build up the North State economy.

One of Orchard Nutrition Center’s true delights is its organic deli and bakery. Offering custom-made sandwiches on freshly baked breads with nitrite- and nitrate-free deli meats, there are vegetarian and vegan-friendly options as well. And don’t miss out on the savory soups and salads, while making sure to save room for their sublime fresh baked muffins, cookies and scones.

The health industry has grown over the years, and Orchard Nutrition Center has been there from the start and takes not only pride, but a personal interest in their customers’ health and well-being. “Our mission is to be the gatekeepers for our community,” Martino says. “We feel it is our responsibility to be conscientious and understand labels and to scrutinize ingredients. We are always searching out products that meet our criteria and standards. We strive to provide products that build the foundation of good health and empower every person to live life to its fullest.”
