Sean R. Stoddard Foot and Ankle Specialist
Dr. Sean Stoddard’s mission is to get you back on your feet. Literally. A seasoned podiatric foot and ankle specialist with more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Stoddard runs the Foot and Ankle Clinic of Northern California. “When I see a patient go from a wheelchair to walking, that is the most gratifying feeling as a doctor,” he says.
Foot and Ankle Clinic of Northern California, which has been around since 2011, has two locations, one in Chico and at 405 South St. in Redding, and you can find them on the web at www.chicofootandankle.com. The easy-to-navigate website is full of information for patients, including printable forms. The “helpful link” tab offers explanations to a lot of foot and ankle related problems.
A New York native, Dr. Stoddard provides a “one-stop shop” for all foot and ankle conditions. This includes office-based treatment of heel and arch pain, ingrown toenails, neuropathy, diabetic foot issues, fungal toenails and painful calluses. His focus is on trying conservative, non-surgical treatments first. However, his extensive training and years of professional experience has allowed him to master surgical techniques involving bunions, hammertoes, fallen arches, broken bones of the foot and ankle, and foot and ankle arthritis. He is trained in performing FDA-approved 4th generation total ankle replacement for patients with painful arthritis of the ankle who are qualified candidates. He has been doing this procedure for over 15 years and has performed over 150 of these procedures to date. He also addresses severe foot and ankle arthritis through other cutting-edge techniques that include tendon transfers, joint fusions and joint realignment procedures.”
Dr. Stoddard attended Holy Cross and the City College of New York before completing his post-graduate education at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where he earned his doctorate degree in podiatric medicine in 1989. His residency training involved rotations at VA hospitals in New York and Connecticut, along with rotations at West Point Academy.
He’s got a tremendous staff, including office manager Jackie with more than 20 years of experience, to enable him to focus on patients and their well-being. “Healthcare is always in a constant state of flux. I don’t like getting held up by all the administrative work. The doctor/patient relationship is the key,” he says. “I have always believed in treating my patients the way I personally want to be treated.”
