Tantardini’s

A visit to Tantardini’s is like taking a trip to Europe without having to leave Redding. The family-owned European bakery-deli specializes in bringing the taste of the Old World to the North State with their food infused with love and tradition.

Diego Tantardini came to America in 2012 from Milan, Italy, with his wife, Deborah DI Maso Tantardini, and two children. It was on a trip home that he realized just how different cuisine was compared to his new home. Tantardini’s was born in 2014.

“We felt compelled to open Tantardini’s and let others experience our passion for food,” Diego says. “My inspiration comes from people enjoying the fruit of our labor. When the customers are happy, we are happy.”

And how could they not be, with amazing dishes including breads and pastries made fresh each day? From divine pasta dishes, salads, grilled paninis and sinfully good pastries, there’s something for everyone at Tantardini’s.

Open weekdays (during COVID) on Churn Creek – check for hours at www.tantardinis.com – diners also have the option of bringing family-style meals home to finish baking. They cater and deliver through Entree Express and DoorDash.

Tantardini’s is also stacking up awards – Mom and Pop Award with Redding Chamber of Commerce in 2017 – as well as giving back through the Shasta Trinity ROP, the Shasta Business Training Center and even judging baked goods at the Trinity County Fair.

The former Italian Army paratrooper is proud Tantardini’s was able to offer meals to Carr Fire victims, seniors isolated during COVID, donating gift cards and even teaching cooking classes.

“Baking and cooking is our passion,” Diego Tantardini says. “I’m proud to be an Italian that lives abroad. I love the USA … especially the freedom.”

Tantardini’s prides itself on a wholesome approach with no preservatives, no mold inhibitor, no shelf extenders, no sugar and no fat added.

“One of our customer favorites is a freshly baked grilled panini on our ciabatta bread for a quick lunch. Our ciabatta bread is made with only four ingredients: flour, water, salt and yeast,” he says. “We use top of the line ingredients combined with old world techniques and recipes to create excellence. We bake our own bread and pastries from scratch every day, without sugar or preservatives. Our food offers a unique European experience and expresses love and passion through the infusion of ageless European recipes with fresh, healthy ingredients.”

And they love knowing customers are inspired by their simple cooking and baking methods.

“The excitement of customers when they find out the simple ingredients we use is amazing,” Diego says. “When we teach people about our culture and how to make pasta from scratch and they feel empowered and able to make a meal on their own – I’m just happy to share my passion.”
